Runway MY Way
Week Update & Beauty Fierce Find
Happy Tuesday Luvs,
OMG last week was busy busy busy as usual hehe. I was dealing with a little bit of this and a little bit of that so let's see what I can fill you guys in on?
Well first and foremost on Saturday December 5th was my birthday which I consider a National Holiday in my world :-). The weather on Saturday was awful. I hate bad weather: rain and snow. Ugh. It messes up your hair and rocking 4 1/2 stilettos boots in bad weather can be challenging. Thank God I know how to rock em right ;-).
I did a little dinner with some homegirls and ventured out to a club for the remainder of the night. It was very chill and I appreciated the company. This coming Saturday one of my best boos and I will be doing a little party at a venue in the city so that everyone can come. I am still trying to figure out what my 'fit' will be, but I am leaning towards a 60-70's sexy glam look. Simple, Sexy with a touch of Sass. I will definitely take pictures for your viewing pleasure.
A few weeks back I styled a client of mine with a dress and shoes for a black and white event she was attending. Love the dress and shoes. Everything came out very nice.
December has been filled with clients for me which is a very good look. Parties/Galas/Banquets love them all. With birthdays and New Years around the corner holiday dressing is at its max which is why I did a retail therapy for StyleCaster on Holiday dressing. I provided great tips to make the month of December a breeze so check it out.
Now onto....

Normally, I stick to apparel for fierce finds, but once in a while I have to throw a beauty deal into the mix. For starters, I am a makeup princess. Love makeup. A lot of people have many misconceptions about makeup and a lot of people use makeup incorrectly. Personally, makeup to me is another way to enhance your beauty. Everyone is beautiful in their own right, but makeup enhances those features and depending on how you do it and the colors you use for the day it brings out another beauty in you. With that being said I had to share with you all my favorite M.A.C products. I literally own a million products from them, but the penultimate eye liner and blot powder pressed are life savers. I have a very distinct eye shape and when I use this particular eye liner it brings it out clearer. Not only that, but it is the easiest eye liner to use. I feel like I am the ultimate pro because its addicting. The way it let's you shape how your going to use it is like makeup crack lol. Love it.
Now for the blot powder I tend to have oily skin sometimes especially when it comes to makeup and adding a coat of blot powder after I am done my face keeps me non-oily and perfectly clear and fabulous all day. It is seriously the BEST invention ever. Do not get me wrong other retailers have great blow powder and eye liners as well. My point is if you have yet to invest in these two products then you definitely need to do so. They are life changing in my opinion. I just happen to be pretty loyal to M.A.C.

Alicia Keys Alicia Keys Alicia Keys
Happy Tuesday Luvs,
Alicia Keys is our topic today and I iunno about yall, but I am one of, if not, her biggest fan on an all around level. I think she's beautiful and extremely talented, but on top of that she's is a great humanitarian. She is always looking for ways to help especially when it comes to children.
Tonight at 8pm she is doing a LIVE benefit from the Nokia Theatre in NYC for World's Aids Day/Keep a Child Alive. Visit her official website for details on how you can watch the concert on youtube if you cannot make it to the theatre.
Now since we are on the topic of Alicia Keys I have to share with you my fortune of seeing her last Tuesday morning on the Today Show. It was amazing. I've seen her several times in concert and I love her more every time. See photos below courtesy of Nadia J. for your viewing pleasure. She looked great in her green leather blazer, gold top, black liquid leggings and gold accessories. Her boots were very interesting, but I loved them.
She blessed us with her hits "No One, "Empire State of Mind 2" (yes she added more to her version of the song) and "Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart" which is my favorite new hit from her. Check the video here if you have yet to see it.
Ms Keys new album, "The Element of Freedom" will be in stores on December 15, but you can pre-order as early as today through her website on Amazon.
*Isn't the album color nice? It's a softer look for her. I dig it.
Anyways, I am also working on a retail therapy article for StyleCaster.com on Ms A. Keys so stay tuned for that.
Yanni.

Some Coach highlights!!!
Hi Luv's,
Happy Early Thursday.
Today is a good day for me because I have no school, work, internship, shoot, nada. It's a good feeling. I can catch up on sleep and the only thing I have planned is meeting up with my godsister, my fabulous web designer.
First, I want to apologize for not posting a fierce find for the week. This week has been a bit crazy for me and time got away. So I am really sorry for that; however, I fully intend to make it up :-).
Sidebar: I had to put a "fit" together for my little sister's graduation pictures and decided on heading to one of my fav spots Forever21. Usually I order online, but since the pictures are in a day or two we had to hustle quickly. During my search to put together the ideal look I came across one of my past fierce finds and ended up including it in the "fit". I was excited. I'll def post the look up in a few days.
Moving on....
So yesterday when I was at my internship I had to research Coach for a bit and I was truly surprised. I haven't bought anything from Coach since May and the last time I was on their website I was not impress with their footwear options. The website had limited images and it was undergoing some changes.
Iunno about yall, but Coach is the casual luxury brand for people. Most people own something that's Coach. It's the type of brand where people stay loyal because it was that first big ticket item that you had to be trusted to appreciate. I still remember when I got my first Coach bag in junior highschool. My mom USED to be the only Coach addict. Memories.
Anyways, these days I usually invest in a few pair of Coach sneakers for the year, MAYBE a pair of flats/sandals and I'm done. So you can only imagine my shock when I visited the website and the selection was a pleasant surprise. They had an array of footwear ranging from boots to sneakers. Some interesting variations especially in the sneakers which is cool to reflect fashionistas that want to wear fashion sneakers such as Coach and Gucci as opposed to regular Nike's or Adidas.
While I visited the site I decided to share some of the hot ticket items I liked and would invest in.

Prints: Dare to be BOLD? or NOT?
Hi my luv's,
So another day, another week and the weather keeps changing. On Saturday I went to a StyleCaster event and it was full of good times. The scene was a rooftop building in downtown Manhattan with the most breathtaking view. I went accompanied by my roomie from college and the dress code was dress to impress ofcourse :-).
While mingling, my roomie and I got on the topic of prints. I happened to be wearing a floral corset top and a boyrfriend blazer with stripe lining.
While she was wearing all black with accents of leopard print in her scarf, belt and shoes. Very chic might I add.
Prints are one of the hottest trends for this fall. They have been featured in numerous runway shows. Big prints, little prints, bold not so bold. It varies. We got on the subject because she was telling me how she knows people that hate when ppl mix and match prints.
So the question was: Is it right to mix and match prints?
It is beyond right for those that choose. Personally I love prints. I think its a fun way to add to a simple outfit, a fun way to mix up something that's already hot, etc etc. Prints add personality. Depending on the type of print it is. People like to go crazy with mixing and matching and it varies on someone's personal style, but let's really think about it. Solids are plain and classic, but prints? Prints are a bold way to be self expressive in a great fashion-forward way as you can see from the photos above. Two different people and two different outfits, yet you can tell both me and my roomie's personal style. I'm not saying go overboard because, if done wrong, can just be plain ol' tacky, but there is NOTHING wrong with experimenting ;-).
Since we are on the subject of prints...

Name: Belted Brush Stroke Skirt Price: $17.80
I like this skirt. I think its bold, but in a simple way. Perfect for work with a plain black shirt or you can glam it up for a night out with the girls or a date. Throw some stockings on with black pumps, booties or knee boots and your good to go. Perfect example, I think, of being expressive with a bold brush print.

Personal Update: Thru My Eyes
Hi Luv's,
I cannot believe how nippy it is outside. It's damn near cold. I do love Fall, but ugh the cold only reminds me that Winter is literally knocking at the door. All week I refused to wear a jacket. I was doing it up with sweaters heavy on the layering hehe. However; tomorrow it looks like I am going to have to pull out the bomber.
So what has Yanni been up to?
Well I've been on a crazii rollercoaster ppl. Extremely crazii. All aspects of my life have been doing a number on poor little me, but we have to take the good with the bad right?
Today was my relaxation day. I start my new pt gig next week so that should be interesting. Hopefully, it works out :-/.
Last night I hung out with two of my closest homegirls and it was seriously a breathe of fresh air. We hang out like 4 or 5 times a year, but its always the best fun. I adore and love them. Good friends are priceless. Let me tell you.
Recently, I picked up the Look Book I assisted with back in August. The book looks good and everything came out great. It's really nice to see your name in the credits. Major accomplishment for the week :-)
Anyways, I am currently working on doing two shoots. I am truly hoping that Monday works out and I can get one of them down. It's been challenging to find the perfect team, but hopefully Monday will be worth it. I am dyingggg to do this shoot. If its executed the way I envision it, its going to make me so proud :-).
The other shoot is still a work in progress, as usual, but everything worth it takes time right? These are the sacrifices you have to make to work with the best and these two photographers are really good.
Let's talk about my internship. It has definitely been a great experience. I cannot believe its been two months since I've been there. I've learned a lot and it has helped me find more direction in where exactly I am trying to go in my fashion career. If you have yet to join StyleCaster then please do so. It's an amazing site that will take fashion to the next level. Who wouldn't want to be apart of that movement?
Last, but certainly not least I might be working on another fashion show which is definitely exciting. I am waiting for more details on that, but I am very interested.
That's enough insight into my world for now hehe.

My thoughts: Fashion Wk, VMA's & Fierce Find
Wassup Luv's,
So the past few days have been very exciting for New York City with fashion week and the VMA's. New York was representing to the fullest and yourz truly has a lot to say about it.
New York Fashion Week:
There have been some wonderful collections for Spring 2010. My favorites thus far: Cesar Galindo, Jason Wu, Christian Siriano, Vivienne Tam and Diane Von Furstenberg. I am looking forward to Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera, Carlos Miele, Michael Kors, 3.1 Phillip Lim and last, but not least Bryan Reyes (I adore him). This Fashion week I assisted wardrobe backstage for: Cesar Galindo, Jason Wu, Vivienne Tam and the upcoming Bryan Reyes show. Working backstage is such an experience in itself, a very valuable one. Fun, Fun, Fun. What shows have yall seen? and what's your favorite? Let me know your thoughts.
MTV's: Video Music Awards:
So wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww if you have yet to see the VMA's it is definitely a MUST SEE for many reasons. Follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/yannid125 to get my personal opinions on various topics dealing with the VMA's. Right now I just wanted to focus on my MOST/LEAST favorite look from the VMA's red carpet.
Beyonce wore a fabulous red mini dress by Roberto Cavalli and looked stunning LEAST LIKED:
Lady GaGa wore a Jean Paul Gaultier Lace dress and a Keko Hainswheeler neck brace. All I can say is we have to respect Lady GaGa's hustle, but seriously what a statement she was trying to make here. She definitely gets a few points for being bold.
